Recipe Substitutions

This is the list of substitutions I use in cooking and baking.  Being dairy and egg free can be tricky in the beginning but gets easier with time.  I’ll add to this list as I think of more subs.  Check back often!

Homemade Cream of Chicken or Cream of Something Soup

“Sour” Cream

Half and half

Heavy Cream (Same as half or half sub above or click link to see the culinary coconut milk I use)

Milk (for cooking purposes only I use either the half and half sub, the heavy cream sub or plain almond milk)

Butter in a Tub

Sticks of Butter

Egg:  Flax Egg (mix 1 tablespoon of flax seed with 3 tablespoons of water and let sit until it gels), Applesauce or EnerG Egg Replacer

Dry Ranch Mix
To make ranch dressing, whisk together 1/3 cup Just Mayo or other vegan mayo and 1/4 cup non-dairy milk with 1 tablespoon of dry ranch mix. (Adapted from Once A Month Meals)

Homemade Taco Seasoning

Homemade Bread
